Industrial Partnership and Technology
Transfer Program
The goal of the CEBC industrial collaboration
and technology transfer program is to develop a mutually
beneficial partnership with industries that will:
- Help companies access novel technologies that will,
in turn, provide them with a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
- Be a preferred and unique resource providing capability for multi-scale
discovery, and molecular and process engineering of
green catalytic systems for fuels and chemicals;
- Ensure that environmentally beneficial technologies
are indeed commercialized in a timely manner for the
benefit of society;
- Produce uniquely trained chemical engineers and scientists with industrial exposure and sensibility, and help diversify this human resource.
CEBC’s strategy is to recruit the broadest
possible cross-section of companies that would be positively impacted
by CEBC research. The CEBC research subjects were selected on the basis of grand challenges facing the chemical,
petroleum, agricultural, pharmaceutical, technology development,
consumer products, and manufacturing industries. Representatives
from these industries provide critical guidance for CEBC’s vision, strategic research
plan, proposed research activities, and ways to
foster collaboration with CEBC.
Benefits to industrial partners include:
- Continuous timely updates of the latest developments
in environmentally friendly catalyst chemistry and technology;
- First opportunity at licensing and commercialization
of novel environmentally friendly technologies evolving from CEBC core research;
- An active role in guiding the research and student
development at CEBC;
- Significant leveraging of their research dollars;
- Exceptional opportunities for the support of collaborative
research with negotiable rights to or exclusive licensing of intellectual properties;
- Participation in exchange programs for students, faculty,
and industrial scientists; and
- Participation in the Industrial Colloquium Program, graduate courses, and short courses.
A membership agreement and bylaws document
(MAB), that includes a section on intellectual property policy, has been adopted
by KU, UI and WUStL and the corporate partners. The MAB is identical for all corporate partners. This document a) ensures substantial opportunities
for industrial members to provide ongoing input on CEBC
vision/research activities; b) provides timely access and
participation by industrial members in intellectual property
filings; c) provides a simple yet effective system for disseminating
CEBC research progress; and d) includes an equitable fee
structure. Please
